The benefits of alkaline water
What alkaline, ionized water actually is, in plain language.
"Alkaline water" gets used to mean a few different things. At The Well it means water that has been purified, remineralized, and ionized. Each step does a specific job, and it helps to separate the marketing from the mechanics.
pH is only part of it
Raising pH alone is easy and not very meaningful. What matters more is what is added back, calcium, magnesium, and potassium, and the dissolved molecular hydrogen produced during ionization. Hydrogen-rich water is an active research topic with a growing body of preliminary studies.
ORP and structured water
Ionizers can produce water with a negative oxidation-reduction potential, measured in lab testing up to several hundred millivolts negative. These figures depend on the machine and the source water, and they fade after the water is dispensed.
What we will and will not say
Many people simply tell us they drink more water and feel better when it tastes this clean. What we will not do is make medical claims. Alkaline water is not a drug and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
